Louisiana state official arrested over alleged drug deal near fast-food restaurant

A Louisiana state official was arrested this week after she was allegedly caught in the midst of a drug transaction with a needed man as police have been closing in to arrest him. 

Bridgette Hull, the chief secretary of the Louisiana State Board of Non-public Safety Examiners, was arrested Tuesday as police have been trying to find Steven McCarthy, a person with drug and firearm-related warrants out for his arrest, based on a press release from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Workplace.

The Louisiana Legal professional Basic’s Workplace had requested for the sheriff’s workplace assist to assist in McCarthy’s arrest Tuesday.

When deputies situated him close to a fast-food restaurant within the Albany space, they discovered Hull and McCarthy “in the midst of a drug transaction,” officers stated. Hull was described as an acquaintance of McCarthy. 

McCarthy fled the scene in a automobile and struck a automobile in his escape try. The automobile’s driver sustained minor accidents, the sheriff’s workplace stated.

Hull and McCarthy have been each charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute, together with fentanyl and meth, and possession of a firearm with managed and harmful substances, the sheriff’s workplace assertion stated.

McCarthy was moreover charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and negligent harm. 

The sheriff’s workplace shared images of seized proof within the arrests together with a number of medicine, a scale and a firearm.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
